Pearl Octopuss.Y Earrings
Large but under-15-gram earrings for Pearl Octopuss.Y — clay sculpts, 3D-scanned and printed locally.
Katrine, who founds the jewellery brand Pearl Octopuss.Y, works intuitively and with a strong sense of form but no digital modelling. So she sculpted the earrings in clay.
We 3D-scanned the models, prepared them for printing, and produced them in a lightweight material — the point being to make large earrings that stay light. The target was under fifteen grams, and we reached roughly eight-centimetre earrings within it. For a second set we wrote a custom toolpath that lays material down in a partly randomised structure, giving organic spiral forms unique to the brand.
