We had wanted to work with the artist Nix for a long time. The chance came with Folka, an exhibition that needed something large, physical and visually striking. Nix — Nikolai Gyllenhammar, half of the Oslo duo BROSLO — had made a series of VR sketches for wall-mounted pieces that sit between painting and sculpture, roughly three by two metres.

The file was far too large to print in one piece, so we split it into modules and reworked the design for seamless wall mounting. Printing it brought the weight down to around 50 kilograms instead of several hundred while keeping the monumental scale. We deliberately increased the layer height in production to give the surface a coarse, hand-made, unmistakably printed texture — so the work quite literally emerges from the wall.
