The Reading Nook x Ingrid Aspen

Together with Ingrid Aspen, we set out to develop reading nooks for a library in Haugesund. A reading nook is a place where children and adults can sit together to read, but traditional versions are often made from flat MDF panels and shaped like small houses. Ingrid wanted a solution that felt more organic and more inspiring for children.

We developed curved forms that both look and age like wood while offering a more playful expression. To achieve this, we used our patented toolpath generator, the same technology employed in the Alveare project. It allowed us to create organic lines and soft transitions that would have been very difficult to produce with traditional methods.

The result was a set of reading nooks with a warm, sculptural expression that stands apart from conventional boxy solutions and invites both reading and play.
