Ingrid Aspen - Ataljé Lyktan

The project we did together with Ingrid Aspen was a lamp design in which she wanted to create the illusion of fabric hanging down from a cord. The challenge is that real fabric collapses when it hangs freely and loses its shape and volume.

We therefore developed an internal structure in two-millimeter PET that supported the fabric and shaped it into soft folds. The hidden construction allowed the fabric to retain both weight and expression without losing its form.

The concept was further explored by Ingrid Aspen and Atelié Lyktan in connection with the Oslo Design Fair, and the lamp was also featured in Vi bor bedre.
