NIX - When art comes to life
We had wanted to collaborate with the artist Nix for quite some time, and when the opportunity arose, it was through the project Folka – an exhibition that called for something large, physical, and visually striking. Nix had created a series of VR sketches for art installations that would extend from the wall, blending painting and sculpture in a format measuring roughly three by two meters.
The challenge was to translate the digital artwork into a physical installation. The file was too large to be printed as a single piece, so we divided it into several modules and adapted the design to allow for seamless wall mounting. Using 3D printing, we achieved a large-scale piece with low weight, around 50 kilograms instead of several hundred, while maintaining a monumental presence.
To give the work a distinctive 3D-printed aesthetic, we increased the layer height during production, creating a unique texture and handcrafted character. The result is a piece that quite literally emerges from the wall, bringing digital art to life in the physical world.
Nix is a part of the art duo “BROSLO”. The duo consists of Nikolai Gyllenhammar from Oslo (NiX), and Jonny Hurts from Brumunddal. They are both self made artists.
